I know I've been going on and on about this bloke named John Barrowman who's on some show called Torchwood that in America only people who know how to steal TV over the internet have been able to see. But!!
Exciting news from BBC AMERICA's press department hit the wires this morning: the entire channel is undergoing a "radical makeover" later this year. The channel will now "focus exclusively on bringing U.S. audiences the very best in contemporary British programs - including a greater emphasis on our world renowned news coverage," according to our new head honcho, Garth Ancier. Lots of great acquisitions to announce, including MI-5 (Spooks to you UKers), the long-running youth soap Hollyoaks (which I love), Hotel Babylon, the new Jennifer Saunders comedy The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle, [and] Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood...
While we're importing telly from across the pond, can we get some of whatever Charlotte Church is smoking? Here's the very preggers singer-talk-show-hostess asking and Barrowman telling -- about how his partner likes it when he uses his natural-born Scottish accent in bed, getting to kiss the most recent Doctor Who (nicknamed David Ten-Inch) and how a certain cast member of Will & Grace is obviously gay (just look at the lines around his mouth). Along with plenty of four-letter words and dick jokes. This is what the Puritans were trying to escape?!
Previously > Barrowman's not married to a gold-digger > C'mon baby light my Torchwood

Fantastic news! "Torchwood" is an excellent show (his character is very witty & sexy) & Barrowman is a fantastic actor (and not too harsh on the eyes either). Yay!

You don't have to steal it over the internet: you can buy the series on Region Two DVD, and watch it on your computer if you have a good regional decoding software.....

BBC America doesn't show stuff until 6 months to a year after it's broadcast in the UK, so this is the earliest I would have expected Torchwood to show up; it's not like the BBC were previously deliberately witholding it from the US. I do wonder, though if BBC-A will now pull Dr. Who off Sci Fi; currently the season airs on Sci Fi first, then BBC-A. The news the BBC-A will pick up Spooks/MI-5, after A&E decided to abandon arts and entertainment programming for true crime and CSI: Miami, is fantastic.
