It's easy to get sucked in by big-budget advertising -- people like what other people like, and the more we hear about something, the easier it is to go along with the crowd, at least long enough to taste-test for ourselves.
But sometimes really great, smart, heart-felt and amazing things come about the other way, the hard way. Take my friend Drew Emery's movie, Inlaws & Outlaws. It's this subtle, achingly sweet portrait of marriage -- all kinds of marriage, involving all kinds of people from all different decades who figured out how to keep their love alive no matter how much of society seemed to be organized against them.
For more than four years, Drew has been laboring to bring these stories to the big screen, traveling around the country, showing an evolving version of the film in churches and film festivals. And now the final cut is having its theatrical debut, playing for the next two weeks at Laemmle's Sunset 5 in West Hollywood. (Geographically challenged? Help bring the movie to your town!)
And yes, I'll put my money where my big mouth is. If you're the first person to comment on this post, I'll buy you and a friend tickets to the viewing of your choice.

I will see the movie if it comes to Minneapolis! Thanks for the heads up!

Since Ricky Morgan is in Minneapolis, does the offer roll to the second comment? :-)
