This video of Enrique Iglesias taking his venue's name to heart and singing "Hero" onstage to a very thrilled young man makes me feel like I hit my head and ended up in GayLand. And not -- seriously -- because I in any way think Enrique is secretly gay.
It's just the idea of a world in which male singers apparently don't think twice before serenading fanboys -- and by serenade I mean not just singing sappy love songs but reaching out to touch their hands (!), and their chest (!!) and then wrapping themselves around the boy from behind and singing and swaying together (!!!) -- without feeling the need to defensively make it a big joke is so surreal that I'm almost not sure I believe it really happened.
But it did! Look!

Ohhh, good on you, Enrique! It's a little bit of redemption for every gay boy who weeped silently while 12-year old girls got their YEARS made at Backstreet Boys concerts.
Could not. love him. more.

My favorite part was the kiss on the forehead at the end. I didn't give a shit about Enrique before, but I suddenly find myself in love

Oh My Gawd!!!
I think I love Enrique now! Seriously. Hetero guy (well, at least he hasn't come out) strong enough in himself to sing a love song to a guy on stage! Way to go... it actually gave me chills watching it.
What a real great guy!

this brought me to tears. so sweet, sincere. no pop hype, doing it for a fan, who certainly was in awe of him. no pretensions, just natural. what a class act. that kid will never forget that moment, and neither will i.
