Out senior editor Matthew Breen's profile of Mika is now up in its full glory at Out.com. I think it's a smart, savvy piece that considers a serious question: "Does Mika's refusal to say whether he's gay mean something different than it did when others said the same thing two decades ago?"
Post-gay theory aside, Matthew tells me that Mika was "a sweet guy, not a diva, and very thoughtful," and that he was two hours late to an appearance at Virgin Megastore in order to make sure Out got all the time they'd been promised for the photo shoot and interview.
"I got the very clear sense that he wasn't being fed lines by handlers," Matthew says, "and that his take on his sexuality was the product of his own thoughtful consideration. He's not a puppet."
(If you make it to the newsstand, you can see my sidebar chronicling other musicians' dodges and ambiguous answers -- inspired, of course, by the running tally of denials on Popnography.)

I posted this on the OUT site, but would like to share here as well.
When is OUT going to stop putting straight and afraid-to-come-out people on their covers? Last time I checked, OUT was a gay publication and should be supporting, hell glorifying, gay people. While I know and support a celebs right to a personal life, if he/she is not ready to admit they're gay, then they're not ready to accept all the money and celebrity reaped on them by a gay publication. OUT should be profiling more gay individuals.
