Now this is the kind of British invasion Popnography can get behind.
John Barrowman hit the big television critics confab in LA last week to promote the premiere of Torchwood on BBC America and the glowing profiles are already rolling in...
> From the Chicago Tribune: "I wanted to jump in so much, when [reporters] started asking [during
the BBC America panels at TCA press tour] about 'British standards are
different' -- well no, you're just more uptight. Your standards aren't
better, they aren't different. It's not the people, it's the people who
set those standards, the politicians and censors, whoever they may be.
They're creating that. Because people are hungry for that stuff."
> From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer: "I can't walk into a [US] network and go, 'I want you to put me in a show
where I'm a leading man,' you know, as a gay man," Barrowman said. "One
of the things I remember they said to me when I did 'Central Park West'
for CBS; they told me not to talk about my personal life. I found that
insulting, particularly since the man who created the program was gay
himself."
> But if you're headed to Comic-Con in San Diego next weekend to get your geek on, be fully warned: contrary to various rumors on the internets, neither Barrowman nor his co-star Eve Myles (Gwen) will be appearing on any panels.

I saw John Barrowman in "Sunset Boulevard several years ago in London. Thought he was wonderful. Often wondered what he was up to. Glad to see him resurface and can't wait for Torchwood to premier..
