The Nines is a fantastic film.

Ryan Reynolds IS deserving of meatier roles after this.

And, his portrayal of Gavin (nee John August) wasn't stereotypical at all..out of all of the sections, this was the most powerful for me.

The decisions he had to make in regard to his friend Melissa, the unexpected consequences of that decision..was ridiculously profound and definitely raised questions about writers as "creators" and how that kind of "power" so to speak can be intoxicating and overwhelming, and even blinding....was pitch perfect.

And, Ryan definitely deserves to be mentioned in the upcoming awards season, as does Hope Davis (LOVE HER!!!), and Melissa McCarthy (clearly, her time as Sookie St. James and the layers she gave to that performance spoke to a deeper talent that the tv show just BARELY skimmed the surface of..im looking forward to seeing more of her in the future).

GO see this movie..if it's not, talk to your local small and/or indie theatre chain about ways of GETTING it in your city...

William

Why is Ryan seemingly always in your column? Is he gay or not? If not, please move on....the "he may not be gay but I drool over him" banter is tiresome and pathetic.
