Welcome to the absolute slowest news week of the entire year. Most of the people usually busy putting out reports or policy statements or announcing new movies and music are off enjoying the last gasp of summer vacation.
That means you can expect anyone looking to get away with something to try it now, either on purpose -- I'm looking at you, Dick Cheney! -- or just helpfully on accident (that'd be Britney, predictably pulled over for speeding!)
A couple gay stories worth keeping an eye out for:
> Rev. Ted Haggard lies about money, too, and not just the kind paid to male escorts!
> Former Rep. Mark Foley may very well avoid any actual charges for his sleazy online pick-ups of teenage pages -- because neither he nor House officials will make his computer available for further investigation.
> And, why not, get ready with your TiVo for Thomas Roberts, the out and now ex-CNN anchor, who will be soon be seen on the syndicated Hollywood news show The Insider (bundled wherever you see Entertainment Tonight).
