Over the weekend some 80,000-odd folks packed into England's Reading and Leeds music festivals, collectively known as the Carling Weekend. Think of it like the British Coachella, jam-packed with indie rock bands, except even bigger and way older.
And in case you don't have enough reasons to clutch your computer to your chest and love it like the technological marvel it truly is, you no longer have to brave the crowds at concerts like this to enjoy the music.
If you live in the UK, maybe this fabulously comprehensive page of streaming video will work for you -- now that I've troubleshot it from seven different angles I'm guessing I'm blocked because my IP is not in the UK. Any readers out there who can get it to work?
Meanwhile there are always, um, other sources. Here are some highlights:
> Bloc Party playing "Positive Tension" (that's their beautiful lead singer, Kele Okereke, up there)
> Panic! at the Disco playing "Build God, Then We'll Talk"
> Red Hot Chili Peppers playing "Dani California"
> Plus, NME.com has got about a hundred interview clips (literally) with bands backstage up on their YouTube channel. You can start here with The Gossip, if you want.
> And I'd hoped to dig up Patrick Wolf's performance, but all I can find is a shaky camera-phone version. Enjoy this take of him singing "The Magic Position" in his apartment instead?
