You can tell a lot about a band from their sense of humor. I swear, I wasn't even sure The Killers had a sense of humor, not that that made me enjoy their expertly blenderized synth pop homage to all my favorite bands of the '80s any less.
But I take it back! Brandon Flowers totally has a sense of humor! He might, however, want to go back to this slick tie-maker that's outfitted the band in the past. Just in case he's looking for something a bit more dapper than that Christmas tree sweater... And this song is so freaking catchy. I dare you to watch it once and not be singing it all day.
Uh, whoops. You have to wait until it's officially released next week, apparently. Or, uh, keep using the appropriate search terms on YouTube to find versions as they're reposted.
(You should, however, download "Don't Shoot Me Santa" starting next Tuesday, as 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Global Fund's excellent work to fight AIDS in Africa.)
> In other Vegas-hailing dandified rock news, with no fanfare (but to the soundtrack of a few thousand shrieking viewers), a new song from Panic! at the Disco aired during last night's Heroes. "Nine in the Afternoon" was on the band's summer set list and made a guest appearance at the VMAs but hasn't, as far as I can tell, been officially released anywhere yet. Here's Pete Wentz talking to Rolling Stone about his little prodigies being too high to remember how to read a clock.
> And speaking of Pete Wentz and other heart-on-sleeve-wearing boys in bands, apparently I'm now a national expert on the subject, or something. Yesterday NPR asked their toughest questions about just what is happening to masculinity in rock, and I did my best to answer. I'll keep you posted about when the piece airs. (And here's a big public apology to Henry Rollins, who I completely forgot to mention.)
Previously > Killer queens, but no need to Panic!
