The way things are going in Hollywood today, this is going to be the delayed gratification kind of good news (writers strike, anyone?). And the way things have gone at Fox in the past, this could very well be the very predictable get your heart broken news.
But I don't care! I have to be excited anyway! (It is, sort of, my job to get excited about these things.)
People, Joss Whedon is coming back to television! And he's bringing Eliza Dushku!
Yup, the man behind Buffy has hauled Faith out of development hell.
Whedon's new Fox series, called Dollhouse, stars Miss Eliza Dushku, best known as Faith to you Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans. And this show isn't just a pilot. It's already been given a seven-episode commitment by Fox. Woo!
Here's how Fox describes the series:
"Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo's burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse."
Here's the reality of Hollywood business:
So, if the strike were to take place, it would delay the project...
This would delay everything. This is certainly no exception to anything. The strike has to happen. I wish it didn't, but it has to, and it has to go on for as long as it has to. When that is done, this will start and a few months after that, we will be filming. If there were no strike, we would be looking at something like February. So, you support the strike?
I will be busy picketing. I support the guild, and I think what we are doing is unfortunate, but necessary. And that means I don't get to have my fun, but that isn't the point. It is classic for me, by the way, to be going, "Yes! New show! With Eliza!" But...Strike.
In the meantime I think I'll haul out my Buffy box set. It's been way too long since I reveled in its glory days.

I love your Buffy box! I cradle it like a baby every time I'm at your house for a party, uh.
