What budding '70s queen didn't want to be Lynda Carter, the Miss World USA–winning actress who lassoed our hearts as Wonder Woman? Last night, Out staffer Jason Lamphier left his Chelsea fishbowl and marched up Manhattan to the Upper East Side’s Regency Hotel for "An Intimate Evening with Lynda Carter." Here's his report...

Turns out the iconic Amazonian goddess boasts another superpower: her pipes.
Backed by a six-piece ensemble, a stunning Carter (that hair still makes us quiver!) shimmied into the hotel’s dimly lit restaurant to crank out a cabaret set of jazz, blues, country, and pop songs. The dinner crowd initially looked a little straight and stuffy, but the 'mos came rolling in (late, as always) just before the show. She may have been surrounded by middle-aged conservatives, but Carter still gave a shout-out to her rabid queer fan base: She introduced her version of "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" by asking her guests to picture a teary-eyed woman in a dark bar, seeking counsel from the man serving her a drink. "Or maybe it's a man talking to another man in a bar!" she quickly added.
After receiving a standing ovation, Carter reappeared for her encore, sporting a Wonder Woman mask. She danced along to a brassy version of the theme song, then scanned the audience for one particular gay in attendance: Out 100 honoree Alan Cumming. She originally mistook him for a member of the hoi polloi (forgive her, it was the spotlight in her face), but later made up for it backstage when she took time out to hug Cumming and help him figure out how to use his iPhone. Trust us, Cumming is quite the charmer -- and Wonder Woman can work a mean iPhone. Keep this one for your supergay scrapbook.

My dream is that Lynda would collaborate with Peaches someday and take on the Wonder Woman persona again, but this time femme-sparring with Peaches, tying her up (figuratively) in her tinselled lasso and shouting dominatrix epithets, something to the effect of "I'm your Maker!" or "Spread that peach, Peaches!"
