I have listened to Panic at the Disco's horns- and strings-embellished studio version of "Nine in the Afternoon" 8,492 times (note: not an actual, precise count), and every time through I somehow become less capable of saying in any succinct way why I love it so much. It's like an exuberant, hyper-articulate Beatles track, set somewhere between Rubber Soul and, well, Abbey Road, which is where they laid down the additional depth of instrumentation that kicks this into Serious Music Territory instead of merely a fumbling sophomore grope at longevity.
You can buy the single at iTunes (or listen free your own nine thousand times on MySpace). Plus pre-sale tickets for the Honda Civic Tour start selling on Ticketmaster Wednesday, with additional special and regular sales through this week and next.
Enjoy the ridiculousness of singer Brendon Urie's lavender, Eiffel Tower-embossed PJs and other visual highlights from the "Nine" video after the jump. MTV has a few other details and clips from the set, but no official release date for the very Sgt. Pepper's-looking video.
