Though the first big Luke & Noah kiss on CBS soap As the World Turns warranted its own full-court publicity push, when the boys finally, finally locked lips again today, it was with no fanfare whatsoever -- not even a courtesy heads-up to those who have covered the couple all this time.
Soap Opera Digest writer Carolyn Hinsey hit the roof, along with her co-workers:
"I am steaming mad!" said Jen. "I mean, I'm happy about the fact that Luke and Noah had another kiss, but I just did a whole interview with Executive Producer Chris Goutman, about 10 minutes of which was wasted on a coy back-and-forth about when they're going to kiss again! A little heads-up would have been nice." I totally agree. So I came back to my office and emailed the publicist asking why on EARTH they didn't flag that big ole kiss to us, and I swear to God, here was her response: "We've been telling Luke and Noah's story in a sensitive, respectful way and their romance has evolved over time. Luke and Noah kissing is a natural progression of their relationship, it's not an ‘event' or something to be publicized."
Out's insider source had predicted a kiss in time for May sweeps:
"There's an old saying in soaps -- make them wait. And perhaps that's been their intention all this time. Soaps are dying, and losing audience every day -- and they've been handed a life jacket. We'd be dumb not to put it on."
[Thanks to our soap scenester Nelson Branco for the heads up.]

After 8! months, yeah, it's an event. One female character has been married twice since Aug. Do you know how much silly soap opera nonsense I have fast forwarded through?
