Hard to believe it was more than 12 years ago that Out magazine put rabble rouser Roseanne Barr on one of its covers. The cover line read: "Roseanne For Prez!: For Gay Marriage, Lesbian Kisses & Real-World Feminism." Time flies, but how can we forget that historical scene from her ABC show when Mariel Hemingway's lesbian character kissed Roseanne Conner?
Though she said in Out's interview that she had never met a woman she wanted to marry, the actress-comedian added, "If I met a woman who was my ideal companion in every way and all things were right -- then absolutely. I would choose love; especially if it was Indira Gandhi or someone like that -- then it would be completely cool."
Unfortunately, she never tied the knot with a female prime minister, but Roseanne (who has a new show in Vegas) is permanently a darling among the gays -- so much so that we've declared her one of our "Girlfriends," the highest distinction the Out boys can bestow upon their lovely lady friends. Head over to Out.com, where the domestic goddess spills the beans on what every homo should know about his hetero gal pals.
My favorite pointer from Roseanne: "Black-and-white photos of guys in their underwear is not art." Ah, she knows us far too well, doesn't she?
And if you want another goodie from Roseanne, watch this hysterical clip of her cooking lunch with Phyllis Diller. Priceless.
