> First Martha Stewart can't get into the UK, now Boy George has been denied admission to the US. The former Culture Club front man has been refused a visa by the US government due to legal issues overseas, forcing him to cancel his North American summer tour. George was arrested last year when a Norwegian male escort claimed he had been assaulted and kept captive by the singer. George denied the charges and was released on bail. "George's lawyers in London have absolutely forbidden us to
speak about the facts of that case and all I can say is that
George is astounded at the decision and is having lawyers here
in the States look at it in the hope that someone will change
their mind," a representative said in statement issued earlier this week. Fingers crossed, George, but we're worried your karma might have caught up with you, and it may be only a matter of time until you're no longer a man "without conviction."
> Tony Kushner is getting hitched. The playwright -- famous for penning Angels in America -- and his partner Mark Harris will head to California "very soon" to be wedded before a county clerk. The couple held a commitment ceremony in 2003, and is now marrying for legal reasons. Kushner is hopeful that with California as an example, it won't be long before the rest of the country legalizes gay marriage. "Like in Massachusetts, Californians will realize that gay people getting married is not a problem for anyone, and then the rest of the country is going to fall in line," he told New York magazine. Fingers crossed, Tony, but we're not holding our breath for two blushing brides to walk down the aisle of an Alabama church anytime soon.
> Heinz pulled an advertisement featuring two men kissing from the British airwaves after it received more than 200 complaints. The commercial for Heinz Deli Mayo, seen below, shows what appears to be a deli worker making sandwiches in a kitchen for a family. After two children come in and take their lunches (and curiously refer to the man as "mum"), a frazzled business man grabs his lunch and turns to leave when the deli worker asks, "Aren't you forgetting something?" prompting the two to lean in for a brief, but sweet smooch. Television viewers complained the ad was "offensive," "inappropriate" and "unsuitable to be seen by children" and said it raised the "difficulty" of parents having to discuss same-sex relationships with their children. Heinz voluntarily yanked the ad in less than a week. Stonewall, a gay rights group, is asking consumers to boycott the brand for being so totally gutless. Fingers crossed, Stonewall, but -- as depressing as it is -- we're still not convinced most people care more about equality than they do about condiments.

The whole point of the commercial was to try to show that by buying their deli mayo it's just like having a NY deli man in your kitchen -- replacing "mum" -- not gay at all.
