Ryan Gosling is trying to re-team with Lars and the Real Girl director Craig Gillespie to make The Dallas Buyer's Club, a biopic about Ron Woodroof, who Variety describes as "a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live."
Ron was better known in some circles as an aggressively hetero, occasionally homophobic guy also called the "cowboy smuggler" -- when he got frustrated at the FDA's early ban on unapproved "experimental" AIDS meds such as AZT and peptide T, he both sued for access and helped smuggle the drug to other HIV positive folks. Think sort of like Rhett Butler's bootlegging in Gone With the Wind, with less racism and plantation fires and more twangy culture clashing swagger. (Not actually exactly what comes to mind when I think of Gosling -- I swear this was the butchest photo of him I could find -- but who knows.)
The movie's been kicking around for a while -- at one point Brad Pitt was rumored to be attached to play Woodroof -- and still has a few rounds of rewrites to go. One thing we already know for sure: it ain't no Philadelphia.

Ohhh... I love him. He is one of better actor. My favorite film with him is http://rapid4me.com/?q=fracture (2007)
