> Like I was going to act too cool to buy Life & Style and read all about Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson! Cover line: "Her family is in denial. Her friends are fascinated. All of Hollywood is asking... IS LINDSAY GAY?" But the best part is that the article totally frames the debate not as "what's wrong with Lindsay" but rather Lindsay's attempts to have her family take her seriously:
"Her heart is still breaking. The reason: Lindsay's family hasn't accepted her new relationship. ... 'She just wants them to be cool with it, but they're not,' the pal explains. 'And it upsets her.'"
As the first magazine to officially go there, L&S is also happily defending its decision. From a smart piece this weekend in the Los Angeles Times about why Sam and Linds are fair game:
"Why is this couple different than every other couple?" [L&S editor Jared] Shapiro asked rhetorically recently on the telephone. "We know they're not friends -- we know they're in love, we know they're dating.
"Major movie star! Gay, question mark? Bisexual, question mark? Um." For Shapiro, those questions are just the first stop...
"This relationship, I will be honest with you, is a breath of fresh air for Lindsay Lohan coverage," he said. "None of us want to be writing about the train wreck that Lindsay Lohan was. We don't want to see her back in rehab, that doesn't do anyone any good. We love that she's with Sam Ronson and that she's happy -- Lindsay looks better than ever."
> And here's a bonus random denial/confession from the August issue of Blender, in which they let fans question Coldplay singer Chris Martin:
Do you know how I know you're gay? (Heskyn8, Tulsa, OK)
Chris Martin: I always thought that joke [from 40 Year Old Virgin] was kind of funny. We actually have a lot of gay fans, and I'm very proud of that. I thought I might be gay when I was 14. Every kid does. You're like, What's the deal here? What am I? There was no experimentation, though. My boarding school was right near a girls' school, so there was never any of the Which one on the desert island would you eat first?
