> Billy Bob Thorton is on track to play Freddie Krueger in the upcoming remake of the horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street. The original movie starred actor Robert Englund starring as Krueger, a serial killer who enters promiscuous teens' dreams and murders them, launched the career of hunk Johnny Depp and spawned seven incredibly successful sequels. Englund told the Daily Star he thinks Thorton is an "excellent choice" and that, "a big budget should mean the film will look a lot better than some of the old movies." While we're excited about seeing the series resurrected, we're a little worried that Billy Bob won't be capable of making Freddie as simultaneously wicked, cheeseball (boy could the crispy old guy drop a one-liner) and straight-up gay as Englund did. Razor-sharp fingers crossed!
> There's always been a rumor that Dave Coulier -- best known as Uncle Joey on the '90s sitcom Full House -- was the unkind and thoughtless ex-lover in Alanis Morissette's most famous song, the vicious payback single "You Oughta Know" from her 1996 mega-platinum album Jagged Little Pill. But neither Coulier or Morissette have ever discussed the song or its subject -- until now. Coulier -- now retired from the show business world other than starring on celebrity reality television series like the Surreal Life and Skating with the Stars -- tells the Calgary Herald that he was driving in his car when he first heard the song. "I said, 'Wow, this girl is angry.' And then I said, 'Oh man, I think it's Alanis.' ... I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, 'I think I have really hurt this person,'" Coulier revealed. "I tried to contact her and I finally got a hold of her. And at the same time, the press was calling and saying, 'You want to comment on this song?' I called her and I said, 'Hi. Uh, what do you want me to say?' And she said, 'You can say whatever you want.'" Despite the venom laced through the song's lyrics, the two were able to see beyond the disastrous -- and apparently inspiring -- end of their relationship. "We saw each other and hung out for an entire day," he says. "And it was beautiful. It was one of those things where it was kind of like, 'We're good.'" But we're guessing probably not as good as the day she went down on him in a theater. We still haven't managed to pull that one off yet at our own local cineplex, but we're thinking maybe this weekend when we're seeing Pineapple Express we'll make it a priority.
> New papa Clay Aiken is heading back to Broadway. The former American Idol runner-up -- and father of a son born last week to platonic pal music producer Jaymes Foster -- is gearing up to reprise his role as Sir Robin in Spamalot in next month. "Since leaving Spamalot in May, jokes have just not been funny," Aiken
said in a statement. "Food has lost its taste. The grass is no longer
green -- the sky no longer blue. And babies WON'T stop crying!!" Witty he (or his PR team) is not -- but Aiken did receive a warm welcome on Broadway and helped boost ticket sales for the already immensely popular musical. You can catch Clay in Spamalot from September 19 to January 4, or, if you don't enjoy the theater, you can try looking for him on Manhunt (which may or may not be killing gay culture), allegedly under the screen name HappyChappy2. If you're really lucky (as we were on two separate occasions!), HappyChappy2 might just send you a message himself!
