To celebrate-slash-hype the release of High School Musical Three: Senior Year, Elle magazine wrangled the Disney franchise's three biggest stars -- Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale -- for a Grease meets Dead Man Walking photo shoot. In the 12 page spread, the leading ladies flirt with Efron in a cement prison yard (or is it a public high school? same difference), and in several shots attempt to get it on with him through a chain link fence.
Empowered by his painfully pretty up swept hair and cheek bones so sharply angled you could grate mozzarella cheese on them, Efron sidesteps the loathsome task of choosing one co-star over the other and decides to just go ahead and have his way with both. One pic -- shot number one in the slide show with Hudgens and Tisdale holding hands while wedged in the back of a convertible with Efron -- has blissful-but-carnal teenage threesome written all over it. But our favorite might be number 12 -- Zac and Vanessa rolling around in a clump of weeds while Ashley stands off to the side watching like some crazed kinky voyeur in leather pants and pumps.
The story itself -- filled with your standard borderline unbearable glossy magazine froth like "if the trio were witnessed slurping frappuccinos in the wild, it would be a sighting of the elusive Zashnessa" -- aims to uncover the exact recipe for the actors attraction (for us, not each other) but doesn't really offer much real news other than this is probably the last HSM we'll see. But let's hope not. If they make a College Musical movie, the threesome's characters will finally be of legal age and maybe, at last, we'll see more than a handful of half-kisses in a parking lot.
Lastly, here's a bonus shot of dueling mop-tops Zac and Chace Crawford meeting up on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards. The pic wasn't featured in our copy of Elle, but we have no problem imagining Chace turning the issue's bizarre love triangle to a slutty love square.
