Just when you think ABC (and its corporate cousins) can't get any gayer... Oh wait, haven't we started a post like that before?
Three new pieces of evidence:
> SoapNet -- ABC's all suds all the time cable network -- is starting a gay storyline on General Hospital spinoff Night Shift, starring Chad Allen. He needs a liver -- and/or a lover -- stat! Will Dr. Kyle Julian be able to cure all that ails him? But seriously: Go read Nelson Branco's smart interview with Allen at Out.com. And then stay tuned -- All My Children recently announced Eden Riegel is returning full time to her Emmy-winning role as Erica Kane’s lesbian daughter, Bianca. She'll have a new girlfriend, former GH and Days of our Lives star Tamara Braun. Look for a sit-down with the two daytime divas on Out.com very soon.
> See still more Kevin Walker and now-betrothed partner Scotty in the extras on Brothers & Sisters' season two DVDs, out today. You can enjoy Matthew Rhys speaking in his insanely sexy Welsh accent, plus smart commentary from other cast and writers of the show, including out actor Luke MacFarlane and David Marshall Grant. (With creator Robbie Baitz no longer working there and executive producer Greg Berlanti busy keeping 37 other balls in the air, Grant is the sole 'mo on staff and the main man to thank for the depth of the gay storylines on the show.) The bloopers and gag reel has a hilarious sequence in which all the on-screen family members get fresh with each other -- a cheeky tie-in for a show where not-sister Rebecca and actual Walker Justin hooked up at the end of the season. > Popnog is obviously pulling for Lance Bass on Dancing with the Stars, which kicked off last night. The early episodes of every season always more closely resemble a grade-school pageant than any kind of pro competition, but among a crew of mediocre male celebs, Lance still stood out. Also for a fag he had by far the best chemistry with his partner of any of the pairs. Barring some insane voting glitch -- he's already heavily favored to last long on the show -- he and partner Lacey will dance again tonight. I'm starting my own countdown clock until judge Bruno Tonioli -- read his Out interview here -- and Lance get around to their own flirt-fest. America is ready, if they're already watching ABC.
