The boys of Junior Senior, Jesper (Jr., above left) and Jeppe (Sr., above right), have announced they are dissolving the dance-pop group most famous for their hits "Move Your Feet" and "Can I Get Get Get."
"We have decided in much peace and prosperity to put Junior Senior to rest and focus 100% on making music on our own, as we have been doing for the last year, Jesper Jr. through I Scream Ice Cream -- and now The Little Sisters -- and Jeppe Jr. as Jeppe," they wrote on their MySpace blog late Friday.
The half-gay (Sr.) half-straight Danish duo wants fans to know that there are no hard feelings and though "it would have been a much juicier story if [they] hated each other" -- and even considered making a fake YouTube video of them fighting about whether to call the next album "Jumping Jack Junior" or "Senior Says" -- they "don't promote violence, kids...just peace and good vibes, alright."
All right. Still, that won't make their absence any easier. We always loved how totally off the wall Junior Senior's dance tracks were, and we'll miss hearing charmingly oddball lyrics like "Come on in / Hang your coats / Eat our chips / We've got loads" being chanted over their trademark mash up of disco, garage rock, and thippity-thumppity beats.
As a parting gift to ease the pain, Jeppe and Jesper offered a hitherto unseen clip of the making of their second album, Hey Hey My My Yo Yo, and we went one better and tacked on the video for the campy, pixelated, clip-art-happy "Move Your Feet" below it as a last little tribute to the wonderfully whacked out buddies. R.I.P Junior Senior.
