The Chicago Sun-Times' gossip Bill Zwecker says Barack Obama's camp has rebuffed Lindsay Lohan's offers to be more involved in the campaign -- including possibly hosting a series of events targeting younger voters -- due to concerns about her tabloid tendencies. (I'm sure it was all the trips to rehab they objected to and not her happy gal-pal hand-holding! Who could object to that?!)
Please enjoy this amazing series of sentences that appeared in the New York Daily News story rehashing that scoop:
Lohan has recently been vocal about her dislike of Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee. She wrote a lengthy diatribe on her MySpace page blasting the Alaskan governor over gay rights. "I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin," the 22-year-old actress wrote.
"Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?" she asked, sourcing an Associated Press article which said Palin's church was promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals.
Anytime a newspaper can source a MySpace post that itself sources the AP is a good day. And let's hear it for Lindsay zooming in on Palin's well-documented homophobia -- especially because many media outlets continue to falsely imply that her vote "for" domestic partner benefits means she's somehow pro-gay. She actually signed the bill only after being informed it'd be unconstitutional not to, and said she'd happily support an amendment to the state constitution to overturn such rights.
Can someone please call Lindsay for a comment on that?
