Need a break from an ongoing war, election fatigue and bailout strife? We do too. Take a trip back to the '90s when our biggest concerns were if Billy and Allison would ever get married by the pool and why Brenda never called or visited Beverly High during breaks from "school in Europe." The CW started us on our trip back by introducing the new 90210 earlier this fall and is continuing to play into our time-traveling denial with their recent announcement of a new, updated Melrose Place.
In a recent interview with E!, Jennie Garth stated that her affiliation with the Aaron Spelling-verse was finished for now, after her brief stint reprising her role as Kelly Taylor on the new 90210. "I think they should keep it separate. And no, I don't want to do it," she stated point blank.
We can only hope that Grant Show (pictured above) will be back to stand shirtless in front of his refrigerator during the opening credits. Or that Marcia Cross will visit as Kimberly Shaw to explain exactly what kind of epoxy she used to keep that wig on during explosions and cat fights. Perhaps Kristen Davis will return to play yet another spoiled rich girl obsessed with getting married (since she does it so well). Or maybe Amy Locane and Vanessa L. Williams can come by to explain where the hell they’ve been all this time? Our biggest hope, and I think we're not alone here, is that there be a gay character with a real plot this time around and not just a gay neighbor lending a sympathetic ear to his straight friends.
No
premiere date has been set, but regardless of who is on the
show or what the characters do, we're ready for more
tawdry escapism lounging by the hottest pool in prime time.
