As if Fall Out Boys Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump didn't have enough to do -- what with donating their voice and $$ to defeating Prop 8, showing up on MTV to urge viewers to vote, and gearing up to release their new album, Folie A Deux on December 16 -- the emo rockers recently earned the Guinness World Record for the Most Interviews On Radio In a 24 Hour Period By A Pair of Two by completing 72 radio interviews.
Wentz and Stump began their quest for the new world record at 3 a.m. on October 31 at Premiere Studios in Los Angeles. Though they're still waiting for final confirmation from Guinness, the duo shattered the previous Guinness World Record of 57 radio stations in 24 hours (completed in May 2008). Here's a clip of Pete and Patrick chatting about the upcoming election before appearing on the Ryan Seacrest radio show (this was a month before they attempted the world record but we love hearing them prattle on about what they'd do if they were elected President and VP):
Congratulations! While it's a noteworthy accomplishment in and of itself, it's especially refreshing to see two guys (and straight ones, no less!) who are committed to using their voices together not just to have a good time but also to help bring about the change they want to see in the world.
