In the spirit of Mary Griffith -- the small town mother turned gay rights crusader portrayed by Sigourney Weaver in Prayers for Bobby -- The Advocate has launched a new program to honor the unsung heroes of equal rights activism. Everyday Advocates are reader-nominated, and their profiles will be posted on Advocate.com all year long. Each month one submission will be selected to appear in the print edition and become a finalist for “The Everyday Advocate of the Year," to be named in the fall. Nominate someone you know, or just get inspired!
