The film "Victim" is certainly worth watching, I don't know if it's available on DVD but I've seen it a couple of times on TV. Filmed in 1961 it is as direct as it can be and doesn't pretend to be about anything else but being homosexual (still illegal in UK until the late sixties). Nearly fifty years later I suppose you can smile about the way some of the characters react but at the time this was as near to the bone you could get. Let's not forget, this was no minority "art house" film but one aimed at general release. The reception of the film helped confirm the views expressed in the Wolfenden Report to Parliament which helped contribute to the repeal of anti-gay laws in the UK. Watch it.
