This summer as Blink-182 winds its way across the country for a come-back tour, the band has been picking up the current superstars of emo and pop-punk for stints as opening acts, including Popnography favorites Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy for the month of August. The reunion of the two bands, who haven't toured properly together since 2005, has resulted in each of their front-men seemingly engaged in an escalating war of innuendo, to the delight of fans. As the two bands' set of dates wrapped up last weekend, we checked out a show to see how the battle of the gay was shaking down.
On the half-month of dates Panic picked up on this tour, Panic lead singer Brendon Urie has been baiting the crowds with some juicy tidbits about how songs about sex -- like "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" -- are about how sometimes the band fucks girls, and sometimes they fuck each other. Or about how their new single is about blow jobs with dudes and/or about how hot Megan Fox is. At Darien Lake Brendon didn't disappoint, pointing out that the single should be dedicated to Megan Fox's Transformers co-star, Shia LeBeouf, since he too always looks good naked.
Girl In A Coma stands alone. With a barely legal lead singer whose vocal ranges reach chords only Morrissey himself can hear and a mentality that brakes free from the typical punk code, this three piece Texas-based band has tranquilized audiences worldwide.
A headliner at this year's Homo-A-Go-Go in San Francisco, the trio discussed their obsession with "dealing with it" and their participation in the lesbian community.
Out:What are your opinions of Homo-A-Go-Go thus far? Was it a good decision to move it from Olympia, Washington, to San Francisco? Jenn Alva: We are kind of all new to this. We are doing this and we went out to Michigan for the Michygan Women’s Fest. I guess we are kind of out of the loop a bit with all this stuff. We looked it up and our opinions are all kind of fresh right now but we love the idea. We love events like this that have art and music and workshops and things like that, people from all over getting together. We will probably be more educated next year. We would like to do the same thing.
Do you play festivals a lot? Jenn Alva: We are starting to. We usually just tour and tour and tour and I guess starting last year we started doing the festival circuit. At first it was kind of weird having to play outside, but the Michygan’s Women’s Festival was awesome.
Who else played there? Jenn Alva: A lot! There were a lot of people. Ruth Barrett. They are all talented musicians. It was pretty intimidating.
Are you fans of any of the other performers you are performing with at Homo-A-Go-Go? Girl In A Coma: Oh yeah! Jenn Alva: We grew up listening to Erase Errata.
But last night's Miss Universe was interesting because of two performances of a markedly unusual nature. First of all, Heidi Montag, of The Hills, performed her new single in what was her first ever live performance (if you can call lip syncing while flailing her arms). It was... interesting. Think Britney Spears' nude VMA suit from a few years back matched with a very heavily produced pop track. Check out Ms. Montag's venture into music by clicking here. Say what you want, but I think it's better than Britney's last VMA performance.
The best moment of the show, however, was the hilariously awkward portion of the program where the contestants tackled the evening gown portion of the pageant while Kelly Rowland and David Guetta performed their hit "When Love Takes Over." If it weren't weird enough that the girls were literally walking and talking about their dresses throughout the song, they also "performed" some horrendous choreography. Meanwhile, Kelly was spazzing throughout the whole thing, scratching and screeching away like a cat on a chalkboard. For what it's worth, a possibly high (on life? or...?) Guetta couldn't have looked happier!
Check it out above and be sure to pick up David Guetta's hot new album, One Love, in stores tomorrow.
It's no surprise that Adam Lambert fans are going crazy over him at every stop of the American Idols Live! tour. Just how crazy is another story.
Recently Adam chatted with Rolling Stoneabout the fact that fans have been throwing various, um, objects on to the stage. Namely, bras, studded underwear, whips, and yep, handcuffs. Adam seems to enjoy the attention, promising to pick them up as long as nothing is thrown at his face.
But the Fanberts (like that?) are taking it to a whole new level. Someone threw the mother of all sex toys at Adam during a recent concert. We're talking a full-sized dildo, which literally hit him. Check it out in the clip above.
It's been years since Britney Spears sat down and had a live face to face interview. In recent days, Britney's appearances in general are brief to say the least. Think award acceptance speeches along the lines of, "Thanks y'all and thanks God!"
But Tuesday night Brit rose to the challenge and returned to late night TV. Okay, not really. She was on David Letterman, and she did present the top ten, but she definitely didn't have an interview. Or look like she understood a word of what she was saying.

Jared Polis, the first openly gay congressman to be elected, chatted with Stephen Colbert for The Colbert Report's popular show segment, "Better Know a District." What ensues is pretty much comic genius, with Colbert playing the role of the homophobe. Oh, and somewhere along the line a beer funnel comes into play. Don't ask, just watch.
Diva extraordinaire Liza Minnelli stopped by The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last week and definitely brought the laughs. The whole thing (especially that glitter blouse) is like a big, gay Cabaret flashback. Watch the video above to catch her brilliant reasoning for why the gays love her.
The days when Britney Spears was the queen of ubiquitous television appearances have long past. So it's no wonder that clips, like this exclusive taping of the Circus tour's opening number, get us really excited. If you caught the tour earlier this year, then it won't really impress you -- it's the same routine plus a brown weave and minus a few pounds of flab.
If you missed out on the tour this spring, never fear, Ms. Spears is back Stateside for a second leg this fall, starting August 24th in New York City. For tour dates and ticket information, click here.
