Neil Patrick Harris is currently king of Out magazine, lording over newsstands on the cover of our September Fall Preview issue for a few more weeks, but he's already got his sight set on his next big project: guest-starring as the Shoe Fairy on Sesame Street. We covered the story last month, but since then a few new videos of the adorable actor being interviewed backstage by Elmo have popped up on YouTube.
In the first clip, Elmo tosses NPH a softball by inquiring if he has any pets (he does -- two dogs, Fred and Watson), before going in for the kill and asking him, "What is something that nobody knows about you?" Seeing as all of us at Popnography are total pervs, we were hoping he'd reveal a kinky fetish for something like wrestling in a kiddie pool filled with butterscotch pudding, but alas, this is aimed at 4-year-olds, and the answer, while cute, is considerably less arousing.
The second clip, once again, finds Elmo attempting to put NPH at ease with a seemingly innocent line of questioning ("What's your favorite song?" to which Harris replies by singing a song he made up called "The Pajama Song") and then demands, "What is something that makes you happy?" Neil reveals it's roller coasters because "they're fast and they're kinda scary, but you always feel safe at the end" -- just how we like our hook ups! -- and then finishes the segment with a little circuit party-style dancing.
If only we'd known that children's television could have such fun, gay, (not-so-) hidden subtexts, we would've started watching years ago.
