The boys -- and gal -- of Cobra Starship are currently shakin' their sexy serpentine asses from one end of the nation to the other on their Sassy Back tour, which they launched on Tuesday in Buffalo, New York. In honor of the tour (get a full list of dates here) and inspired by a few emails we've recently received from front man (and boy voted most likely to cause Popnography staffers' hearts [and other body parts] to palpitate) Gabe Saporta, we figured it was time for a Cobra-style update:
> If you haven't made checking out the band's YouTube channel a priority, you'd better get with it. Gabe is especially proud of the following video in which he claims he's finally been "out gay-ed" by drummer Nate (who, we feel it important to remind you, was the Starshipper instantly willing to remove his shirt at Out's Young Soul Rebel photo shoot last month). While the "Love Shack" soundtrack is a nice touch, we're still not totally convinced anyone in the band will ever take the title of "gayest Cobra" from Mr. Saporta:
> You might right member Shana's Out.com interview with Gabe earlier this year during which he reminisced about the particularly -- and surprisingly -- queer artwork of several hardcore bands he loved as a youth:
“I remember growing up there was this hardcore band from Florida called A New Kind of American Saint, and they had in their artwork this one dude from the band who just fucking put everyone else's dicks in his mouth! And he was totally not gay, but I thought that was so rad. And do you remember the Through Being Cool artwork by Saves the Day? Remember how it was like, where's Dave? They copied the whole thing, and at the end and it was like, oh, he's getting his dick sucked by some other dude!”
After the two parted ways they both separately hunted for said artwork but neither had any luck finding it. Then, five months after the fact, Gabe emailed us with the images and the lone comment, "So dreamy." We think that applies to all parties involved here. So, enjoy some punk rock porn, courtesy of and curated by Gabe Saporta:
